The Mayflies
June 19, 6:30 – 8:30pm
Website

The Mayflies have been pushing the outer limits of jam rock and bluegrass in the greater Midwest region and Colorado since 2001. Their live shows are rife with hot banjo pickin', stellar 3 part vocal harmonies, driving, funky drums and bass, and blustery psychedelic electric guitar work. The Mayflies' shows range from wildly energetic to beautiful and introspective in their scope.

Stook!
July 17, 6:30 – 8:30pm
Website

“He channels Tom Petty, Hank Williams and the Drive-by Truckers in a loose, spirited, wry-humored and rye-drunk round of love songs.” (Star Tribune) “Stook's songs could score your average Northeast evening of dive-bar jukeboxes and tear-stained pull tabs.” (City Pages) “It’s as if Stuckey has laid down a Minneapolis lifetime of heartbreak into ten well-crafted tunes – ”(Left of The Dial) “In an era of whiny, self-absorbed indie rock music, Stook is setting himself apart with style of folk- and roots-rock that is catchy and charismatic.” (Pulse of The Twin Cities) Write a few tunes, toss back a few beers, and have some fun recording in his basement with his friends – that was Stook!’s initial plan. But his debut album, The Soundtrack To My Minneapolis, quickly developed a critical buzz, culminating with an appearance on the 2006 Minneapolis Star Tribune annual Critics Poll and receiving a nomination for Best New Artist in 2006 by the Minnesota Music Academy. Buoyed by the positive reaction he received, Stook! is back with When The Needle Hit The Wax, ten new songs that carry the roadhouse spirit of Soundtrack, but armed with a new level of confidence and swagger. Fueled by his R&B-flavored backing band the Jukes, Needle confirms Stook!’s status as an exceptional songwriter, ranging from tender ballads to straight-ahead rockers with stories of love, longing and loss. No matter what the flavor, you are sure to love When The Needle Hits The Wax.
